Stone Urban Homestead

My Husband and I met many years ago while we were in the Boy Scout co-ed Venturing Program so the motto be prepared has always been important to us.

Our goal has always been to use what we have available to us, to live as frugally and sustainably as possible and to always be prepared. Due to our work, we live in the city with a small patio and front yard. As renters we have been trying to figure out the best way to still be able to grow and preserve our own food with the limited space that we do have, its been a bit of a learning curve. Homesteading to us is a mindset more than a place. Homesteading is about working with what you have, getting creative, having perseverance, and constantly striving to learn new skills.

In recent years we have been working on learning the skills of gardening and home food preservation. We hope to one day own property and have a homestead of our own but for now we are starting small and working with the space that we do have. Our homestead my evolve over the years but for now we are doing our best to figure out how to be urban homesteaders. The goal of this site is to share and document our successes and failures as we learn how to be the best urban homesteaders we can be.
